Oddkind case study
  • Industry: Clothing/Artwear
  • Project type: Concept brand + social content
  • Deliverables: Logo direction, brand creation, brand voice, social post, caption, campaign notes
  • Role: Brand concept, copywriting, visual direction, designer, social content strategy

Project snapshot

Oddkind is a concept clothing brand for people who don't want generic clothing. The idea was to create a playful, slightly strange brand world that could work across social posts, product drops, clothing tags, stickers, and campaign visuals.

I want to show how a clothing brand can use personality, not just product shots, to become more memorable.

Brand idea: Wearable oddities for expressive people.
Core message: Wear something stranger.
Content goal: Introduce the brand personality and promote a fictional product drop.

The challenge

Many small clothing brands compete with similar visuals, like clean product photography, basic drop announcements, and generic lifestyle language. For Oddkind, the challenge was to create a brand that felt distinctive from the first interaction.

The social content needs to be playful, bold, expressive, and deliberately a little odd, to introduce the world of the brand.

The audience

Oddkind is aimed at creatively minded young adults who enjoy illustrated graphics, playful design, and clothing with personality.

  • Creatives
  • Students
  • Design-conscious buyers
  • Alternative fashion fans
  • People who like humour and visual personality
  • Buyers who avoid loud luxury branding

Strategic insight

Oddkind sells clothing, yes, but only as the form of self-expression. Self-expression is the real product.

The opportunity was to make “oddness” feel warm and wearable. Instead of chasing trends or presenting the brand as edgy for the sake of it, the concept uses humour, hand-drawn visuals, and simple campaign language to make the brand feel approachable.

Key line: "Wear something stranger"

This doubles as both a tagline and a campaign messaging, acting as the anchor for the brand. It is short, memorable, and gives the audience permission to choose something with more personality.

Brand personality

Oddkind should feel:

Playful

Bold

Creative

Expressive

Slightly strange

Human

Imperfect on purpose

Oddkind should not feel:

Corporate

Luxury-focused

Generic

Overly polished

Trend-chasing

Mass-produced

Too serious

Visual direction

The visual identity uses hand-drawn typography, high contrast, playful marks, and a mascot-like “O” to create a brand system that feels expressive and flexible.

The goal was to make Oddkind recognisable across social media, clothing labels, product tags, stickers, and campaign graphics.

Logo direction

The Oddkind logo was designed to feel playful rather than polished. The “O” becomes a small character with an eye inside it, giving the brand a reusable symbol that can work beyond the wordmark.

This creates a flexible asset for product tags, stickers, packaging, social icons, and future illustrated collections.

Social post concept

Why this works

The phrase is campaignable
“Wear something stranger” works as a tagline, post headline, product drop message, and brand belief.
The tone matches the audience
The copy feels playful and self-aware without sounding like a brand trying too hard to be cool.
The post sells the brand world, not only the product
Instead of simply saying “new T-shirts available,” the post introduces the feeling of the brand.

How the concept could expand
